Should public schools have the power to restrict same-sex couples from attending school-sponsored functions?

A high school in Mississippi recently cancelled its senior prom after refusing to permit a lesbian student to bring her girlfriend as her date. The school board argued that its policies place a ban on same-sex couples, but a lawsuit has been filed alleging that the decision to cancel the prom violated the lesbian student’s rights.

It did violate her rights, & thats messed up. I hope the school gets sued.
